The WOMBATS started '08 at characteristically breakneck pace, kicking off the year by releasing the single ‘Moving To New York’ and playing on a carpark roof to 60,000 people at the opening event of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations.

They then headline 3 sold-out NME Awards shows in Feb, before they set off for dates in Australia, Japan, the US and a headline tour of Europe before their UK dates.
The release of their debut album The WOMBATS Proudly present...A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation in November 2007 led The Fly to describe the band rapturously as 'one of the most intelligent bands around at the moment' whilst The Times called the album 'a smart collection of danceable indie pop packed with hummable melodies, harmonies and lyrical wit'.
The WOMBATS are Matthew Murphy (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, vocals) and Dan Haggis (drums, vocals).
